Welcome to Epsom, NH!

Established in 1727, Epsom offers a rural feel with its farm lands and warm community feeling. Our town derives its name from a market town in England. It is bounded on the north by Pittsfield, south by Allenstown, east by Deerfield and Northwood and west by Chichester and Pembroke. The Town of Epsom is six miles long, and four and one half miles broad. Epsom was granted to the tax payers of Rye, New Castle and Greenland in 1727. Read more about our history

From Epsom’s Police Department

and the

Merrimack County

Office of the Sheriff

The Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office would like to make a press release in reference to a phone scam.  The Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office has received several complaints from citizens receiving phone calls from people identifying themselves as Deputy Sheriff’s from the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office.  The citizens are then being told that they either have warrants and in some cases fines for missing court dates.  They are then being instructed to purchase pay pal cards and paying for their fines over the phone.

This is a scam!!! The Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office does not conduct business this way.  If you should receive one of these phone calls you should hang up and call your local Police department or the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office to verify if you do actually have an open warrant.

If you should receive one of these phone calls you should report this to the Consumer Protection Bureau at the Attorney General’s Office (603) 271-3641.  Do not give these people any money over the phone.  These people will try to intimidate you to get you to pay them money.  One citizen has reported that the person on the other end of the line did threaten to do bodily harm to him and his family after payment was refused.  Again, this is a scam and nobody receiving a phone call of this nature should give any type of a monetary payment over the phone.
